What is a typical class like? Arrival Learning Centers Greeting Time Snack / Review Small Group Large Group Games and Activities What is Greeting Time? This time is used to welcome everyone to class, observe the weather, go over the calendar, and discuss what we will be doing during class. We also sing songs, do finger plays and read group stories before the children move on to small group activities and learning centers. What is Small Group Time? During small group time, children are divided into developmentally appropriate groups. Each group works together with a teacher on concepts and activities that support their current developmental level. What are Learning Centers? Learning centers are areas set up throughout the classroom with different activities for the children to choose from and explore at their own pace. Learning centers are organized and designed to teach different concepts and to work on improving developmental skills. What is Large Group Time? Large group time is designed to bring all the children together to sing songs, play games and reflect on our class time together. What field trips do the children attend? All field trips that the children attend are relevant to what is being discussed in class. Past field trips have included the cider mill, fire station, Hess Hathaway Farm, Sesame Street Live, and local dentists’. What community events are the children involved in? Premiere Preschool is very involved in our local communities. The children participate in food drives for the Hospitality House, Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade, and perform for local senior centers. |
